Financial Institutions

Growing out of its considerable work in real estate, our firm has a significant practice representing financial institutions in all aspects of financing and recovery of outstanding debt. We represent several major New York commercial banks in real estate matters (sales, purchases, and leasing), all forms of commercial financing (on both a secured and unsecured basis), residential mortgage financing and New York City community development lending. We also work with banks in connection with debt restructuring and workouts and debtors' defaults including substantial litigated matters in federal and state courts. Our clients have included the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Resolution Trust Corporation and certain out-of-state banks transacting business in New York.

Several of our attorneys have expertise in both real estate and litigation, enabling us to provide clients with perspectives in both areas and to structure the most beneficial result for them. With this combination of expertise, we are able to advise lenders how to structure loan agreements that limit or avoid potential liability exposure and, at the same time, provide needed flexibility and protection should workout arrangements or enforcement proceedings become necessary.

Our financial institution clients recognize our extensive experience in lending, workouts and mortgage foreclosures, and real estate matters in general. They rely on our ability to provide informed answers to complex questions promptly and efficiently.
