Practice Areas: estate planning | trust & estate administration Mr. Schlesinger joined the firm in 2001. His expertise is in the planning, drafting and implementation of sophisticated wills and trust agreements, with emphasis on the psychological and emotional aspects of estate planning and administration. He has planned and administered large estates and trusts involving closely held business interests, substantial holdings in listed companies, professional practices, and intellectual and artistic assets. A recognized authority on estate planning and administration, since 1977 Mr. Schlesinger has served as a visiting adjunct professor in the LL.M Program in Estate Planning at the University of Miami School of Law. From 1980 to 1989, he served as an adjunct professor in the LL.M Program in Taxation at NYU Law School. Since 1966, Mr. Schlesinger has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the University of Miami Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, and has lectured at 34 of those Institutes. He has also lectured on taxation and estate planning and administration to attorneys and accountants in 42 of the 50 states. Mr. Schlesinger is the author of Current Legal Systems–Automated Will Drafting, an eight volume work on wills. He is the co-author of New York Probate, a three volume work. His other books include 15 editions of New York Post-Mortem Estate Planning Checklist, and Immediate Pre-Mortem Estate Planning Checklist. He has also authored numerous journal, institute and symposium articles. Mr. Schlesinger has prepared a number of audio and video tapes for attorneys on estate planning and administration that are published by the American Law Institute–American Bar Association. Mr. Schlesinger is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Bar Association (Section of Trusts and Estates), the American Bar Association (Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law), the American Law Institute, and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America and the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and he enjoys an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. |
